This blog documents the publishing of a book, from manuscript to distribution. In the end an actual book will be published...on paper and in electronic format. It has the working title of "Gorilla Publishing: Writing and producing books for niche markets from market research to advertising and fulfillment."
So what's so remarkable about that?
There have been lots of books published about writing books, but none with the scope and focus I propose. The scope will be the entire process, from initial marketing research to advertising and fulfillment...right down to the packaging of the book for delivery to the customer and distribution as an eBook for the new tablet PCs. The focus will be on producing books for niche markets.
This is what I call "gorilla publishing" because the author is a completely self-sufficient publisher, taking on most of the roles of author, publisher and distributor of his or her own content. The author travels light and moves with lightening speed, attacking and mastering a small publishing target, moving in and out quickly.
I have been over this ground before, first as a published author for the Waite Group Press (San Francisco), then as a self-published author. I have also marketed, printed and distributed my own books for a very small niche market. But the book I write about in this blog will be different. It will be aimed at a larger market, and will be distributed as a 9x6 softcover book as well as an ebook. It will be marketed through a website, via a blog (this blog), and through social media marketing (facebook, twitter, YouTube).I will show how to use Google adWords and Google analytics to generate awareness and sales for the book.
From my pad to iPad. And everything in between.
